Meet Danielle Russell From the CAN Council

March is Women's History Month and our agency is highlighting women who we feel have impacted our community.

Meet Danielle Russell - Development and Communications Director at CAN Council

Tell us about yourself and what you do.

Danielle: My family and my work mean the world to me! I’m the Development and Communications Director at CAN Council and I get to lead our administrative team, build community relationships, and oversee all fundraising efforts to support our child abuse prevention, intervention, and advocacy programs. When the work-week is done, my family and I love to head North, get outside, and make memories together.

What does Women’s History month mean to you?

Danielle: Celebrating the grit, achievements, and contributions of our strong female leaders of the past and present day. Honoring and reflecting on the women who bravely challenged and shifted women’s rights and roles in our country. It’s a time to reflect on how far we’ve come but continue to shape the vision for future generations. I have two nieces—I want them to believe that they belong anywhere they want to be, that their voices are important and valued.  I want to set an example of strong female leadership for my son as well.

If you could go back and give yourself advice as a young professional, what would you tell yourself?

Danielle: Let passion lead the way. You’re allowed to change direction to find purpose.

Tell us what you love most about your community?

Danielle: The generosity. In my role at CAN Council, I get to witness incredible generosity, acts of kindness and service that directly impact our most vulnerable children and families. It’s inspiring and it’s abundant in this region.
